Mission

Our research team is committed to the ascension of youth who are African-descended, and we believe the family/village serves an integral system for cultivating and safeguarding their optimal well-being. Like the fern, Black youth and family psychosocial flourishing can be achieved, even in the soil of unhealthy social conditions (resilience).

Vision

For Black youth we seek to:

  1. Understand the interplay between racial risk and protective factors

  2. Explore the “how” beyond the “what” of racial protective factors

  3. Identify avenues for prevention and intervention
